THE APPLICATION OF MATHEMATICAL AESTHETICS
TO THE CAPTURE AND PRESENTATION OF CINEMATOGRAPHIC IMAGES

Producer/Director Marcus Thompson will be in production over the next few years on feature length film dramas shooting with cameras specially engineered with apertures, ground glasses and viewfinders designed to unique specifications.
The new system, aptly called ‘midaScope’, utilises ‘Golden Gate’ aperture plates or format masks based on the harmonious Fibonacci series with an aspect ratio of (Ã5+1)/2, or 1:1.61803, and specially designed optical elements within his viewfinders that greatly enhance composition and framing of pictures.
The utilization of ‘Ultra midaScope’ and the ‘Golden Screen’ enables projection of the largest and best quality cinematographic images outside of 70 mm large format systems. The ‘midaScope’ system is compatible with most (Arriflex and Panavision) camera packages and is available for license through midaScope imaging systems limited.
The camera and system were originally devised and registered in 2006 not only for personal use, but as a professional cinematographic capture and projection system. Today there is an abundance of Apps available on the net which attempt to enhance composition on various devices using the Fibonnaci series and spiral, which is great, but midaScope remains the most comprehensive system, both for home use and professional film production.
